Everything hurt. Oh god, why did everything hurt so much?! His chest, his head, his arms, his legs, his eyes. They all stung and ached with the knowledge that the people he lived and worked with wanted nothing to do with him. His limbs shouted at him just like they did, screaming that he was useless, that Thomas and everyone else would be better off without him. He wasn't an emotion. He was just a condition.
Breathing unsteadily, Virgil slowly unraveled himself from the tight ball he had formed to instead reach for the small metal object on the bathroom floor. It glinted in the white light as he brought it closer. A thin, grim smile stretched across his face as he stared at it. Okay. It's time.

Summary
It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

Ryland Grace woke with a start, opening his eyes before quickly squeezing them shut against the bright light of the room. His head was tipped back, the top pressing back into a soft surface. Turning his face to the side, away from the direct view of the light, he gave a few cautious blinks until his eyes adjusted. After a moment, he carefully looked up, rolling his head into an upright position to look around the room.
It featured two rows of reclined leather chairs, the back row elevated slightly above the front. The right arm of each chair featured a few buttons on a small keypad. In each seat there was a member of the Project Hail Mary research and mission team. Most of the members were blinking awake like he was, although some were still unconscious.or
The members of the Project Hail Mary find themselves in a cinema, forced to watch a film which supposedly shows their future. Their captor tells them this will allow them to save Earth (and Erid) but how?or

- "Gentle Hands" - When Tails falls ill, Shadow must reacquaint himself with being a caretaker. While taking care of the sick fox, he ends up trying to work through his confusing emotions regarding his place in their group and his relationship with Sonic.
- "Clenched Fists" - Tails falls ill, and Sonic isn't there to help him. He calls on Shadow for help, but this experience dredges up painful memories of the brothers' past and sends Sonic into a spiral of self-doubt. He grapples with his responsibility as a hero VS as a brother. Thankfully, Shadow is there to help. AKA: Sonic's POV of Gentle Hands- Chapter 2.
- "On the Battlefield" - Sonic is badly injured on the battlefield by a badnik. Shadow helps treat Sonic's wounds and buys them time until they can all get to safety.
- "Fight a Losing Battle" - Sonic and his friends are losing this battle. Eggman has gone too far, and as Sonic watches his friends go down one by one, he finally snaps at the doctor.
- "The Weight of Exhaustion" - Shadow's exhausted after a long GUN mission regarding the ARK and Black Arms, but his body and mind refuse to let him rest. To make things worse, everything goes wrong, leaving him tired and stressed out.
- "Woes of Parenting" - Sonic's harbouring doubts about his ability to raise Tails. Shadow notices and helps, because how could he not?
- "It takes a village" - After a series of attacks by Dr Eggman, Sonic is exhausting himself trying to help as many villages as he can. He struggles to juggle his responsibility to the people with his responsibility to Tails. As Shadow said, though, it takes a village to raise a child, and Sonic finally learns to lean on his village.
- "One call away" - Shadow gets a terrifying call. This inadvertently changes his purpose in Tails' and Sonic's lives.
