Time changes things. Liyue, as in the city itself, changed very little. A new building here, a new shop there. A new cook that took over a food stall they liked and now the flavour was not quite the same. And yet, as much as those small things morphed and transformed and adapted, the city as a whole didn't seem any different for it.
Yet everything in the city felt different, because the people were different.
Now, nearly a decade later, he barely reaches Chongyun’s shoulders with the top of his head, and even then it’s with his heeled shoes. The years had been kind to his best friend. Tall and muscular, Chongyun’s handsome and cold aura was well matched to his position as the lead disciple of his exorcist clan. His eyes, previously filled with boyish shyness, were now calm and confident, steady when he decided to make direct eye contact. It all made girls weak at the knees sometimes, and Xingqiu sympathizes with them, because Archons, he gets it.

The reality of adulthood is looming just beyond the horizon for Xingqiu, and with his personal aspirations and passions having not matched his father’s traditional ways for his entire life, he’s beginning to question if his life has any meaning. His eyes sort of looked like he knew something he wasn’t telling you. And Chongyun kept feeling like he’d met him somewhere before.'

'Finally, Zhenyu raised his eyes, a mischievous golden glint. “Oh, do you trust me that much, Detective? How would you be so sure I wasn’t planning to just get rid of you and subsequently get rid of all my obstacles? Maybe you’ve forgotten, Detective, but legally, I am a criminal.”“...” That was true. Zhenyu seemed to pout slightly, but in the paltry lighting, it was a little difficult to tell if it was actually a pout or a frown. “That’s one of the stupidest reasons I’ve ever heard.” '
