Katsuki made a noise that was somewhere between a groan and the sound a dying engine made. He scrubbed a hand down his face, fingers catching on the loose edge of his mask at his neck.
“Absolutely not,” he muttered. “Nope. Not happening. Try again.”
Izuku blinked, surprise flashing across his face before professionalism kicked in and politely strangled it. “With all due respect, Yukaru-san, Katsuki and I are the top two heroes in the country. We can’t just… go on vacation.”
The word sounded illegal in his mouth. Like something heroes weren’t licensed to do.
Yukaru raised a brow. “Watch me make you.”

Katsuki looked at him for a long moment, then scoffed and turned away. “Yeah,” he said. “Just cake.”

Izuku studied him then—really studied him. The way he stood subtly between Izuku and the door without drawing attention to it. The way his gaze kept flicking back to Izuku’s face, as if checking for signs he might drop where he stood.
“You know who I am,” Izuku said quietly.
Katsuki scoffed. “Hard to forget the navy officer who won’t stop chasing me.”

“Babe?” Katsuki’s voice was low, tired, and warm.
Izuku flinched like he'd been electrocuted. He grabbed the hoodie off the floor and yanked it over his head with shaking hands, tugging it down fast like it might erase everything he'd just been.
He wiped at his face, too hard, and turned just as Katsuki stepped into the doorway.
“Hey,” he said quickly. Too quickly. Too bright.
Katsuki blinked. His eyes narrowed just slightly, instantly suspicious.
“You okay?”
“Yeah,” Izuku lied, voice too high. “Just… hot. Took the hoodie off for a sec.”
Katsuki didn’t respond right away. He just looked. His gaze lingered—sharp, observant, gentle , even when his brow furrowed.
“You look pale.”
Izuku laughed all soft, and forced, like it hurt. “Probably just hungry.”
Katsuki didn’t press. He rarely did, not at first. He gave Izuku space to open the door himself.
But his eyes stayed locked on him. He didn’t move.

“I slept sooo good,” Izuku declared, wiggling happily against his chest. “Did you? Your bed’s really warm.”
Katsuki snorted. “Warm, my ass. You kicked me in the ribs three times. I barely got a wink.”
Instead of looking even a little guilty, Izuku giggled like Katsuki had just told him a bedtime story. He propped his chin on Katsuki’s chest, all soft curls and sleepy eyes. “But you didn’t leave me! I knew Kacchan wouldn’t.”
The words landed heavier than Katsuki wanted to admit, burrowing somewhere under his ribs where even explosions couldn’t shake them loose. He grunted, trying to shove himself upright—only for Izuku’s grip to tighten instantly. The kid latched on like a damn baby koala, fists clutching, legs tightening around him.
“Nooo, five more minutes!” Izuku whined, nose squishing into Katsuki’s shirt. “Just five!”

He sat there for a minute, the weight of the day finally loosening, before muttering, “You keep doing that.”
Izuku blinked, wide-eyed, thumb pausing on the remote. “Doing what?”
“Making room. Putting out my mug. Acting like it’s normal.”
Izuku tilted his head, curls brushing his cheek. His voice was gentle, almost too matter-of-fact. “Well… it is normal, isn’t it?”
Katsuki’s throat went tight. He looked away, fiddling with his phone like it needed all his attention. “…You’re annoying.”
Izuku only smiled, slipping his feet under the blanket Katsuki had dragged down earlier. Their legs brushed, warm through the fabric, and Izuku leaned just faintly into his side.
“Mm,” he hummed, eyes already flicking back to the screen. “You don’t really mind, though.”
Katsuki clicked his tongue, low and sharp, but his hand twitched under the blanket—like it wanted to tug Izuku closer but didn’t dare.
Izuku noticed anyway. He always did.

A strangled sob ripped out of him, so loud it startled him, tore at his throat. He clapped his free hand over his mouth to try and stifle it, but his chest heaved too hard, air hitching in broken fragments that refused to shape into words.
“I—I can’t—Ochaco, I—” His voice cracked down the middle, words tumbling out jagged between sobs. “Why him? Why—what did I do wrong? Why can’t it ever be me?”
“Oh, Izuku…” Her voice gentled further, soft and frayed with worry. “Breathe, okay? Just breathe for me.”
But he couldn’t. His breaths came fast and sharp, shallow gasps that made his vision swim. His thoughts spun faster than he could control, his mouth chasing them desperately.
“He’s—he’s so happy, Ochaco. And she’s perfect. She’s everything I’m not. I—God, I tried so hard. I loved him so much. And it—it’s like it doesn’t matter. It never mattered.”

Izuku froze mid-step, one sock half-sliding on the tile. “…What?”
“You touched my hoodie.” Katsuki’s voice was maddeningly casual as he flipped an egg with the kind of smug efficiency that should be illegal at 7:30 a.m. “That’s mine. Tax applies.”
Izuku squinted at him through the curtain of his curls, deadpan. “Kacchan. I’m literally wearing this so I don’t freeze to death.”
“Not my problem.” Katsuki adjusted the flame under the pan like he was running a Michelin-star kitchen instead of their tiny apartment stove. “Hoodie usage fee: one kiss.”
Izuku groaned, dragging his feet toward him. “You’re insufferable,” he muttered, but he still leaned up on tiptoe and pressed a quick peck to Katsuki’s shoulder blade, lips brushing warm through the thin cotton of his shirt.
Katsuki hummed, low and satisfied. “Accepted.” Then, without turning, he smirked at the pan. “But that was a shoulder kiss. Discounted rate. Gotta round it up.”
Izuku’s jaw dropped. “Kacchan!”
“Rules are rules, nerd.”

“It’s not for you,” Katsuki snapped, stomping toward the kitchen like a soldier marching into battle. “I was gonna eat anyway.”
Izuku trailed after him like a shadow, practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. “Can I help?”
“No.” Katsuki yanked open the fridge, scanning the shelves with critical eyes. “Last time you ‘helped,’ I had to scrape rice off the ceiling.”
“That was one time!” Izuku yelped indignantly. “And the pot was faulty!”
“It wasn’t the pot, you moron.” Katsuki grabbed a carton of eggs, shutting the fridge with his hip. “You looked away while it was boiling!”
Izuku grinned despite himself, leaning against the counter again, perfectly at home, tea mug in hand. He watched Katsuki set the pan on the stove, movements precise and practiced, spatula already in hand like he’d been born with it.
“You’re really domestic, you know that?” Izuku teased, eyes crinkling at the corners.

Katsuki’s breaths came ragged and sharp, but he didn’t pull away. His fingers twitched in Mina’s hold, restless, aching to do something, fix something, but there was nothing to fix. Not now. Not if Izuku was—
His chest squeezed so hard it hurt to speak, but the words clawed their way up anyway.
“I was… fuck—” He dragged a shaking hand over his face, like maybe he could rub the heat out of his eyes before it broke loose. “I was gonna propose to him.”

Katsuki didn’t even try to deny it. “Yeah? And what, you’re allergic?”
Izuku snorted softly and tilted his head to look up at him, his hair mussed, eyes heavy-lidded, freckles on full display. “Apparently not. I’m just gonna melt, I think.”
“Good,” Katsuki muttered.
And then he kissed him again. Once. Twice. A third time, directly on his forehead. And then he just… kept going.
He kissed Izuku’s temple. His cheek. The corner of his eye. His jaw. His dimples, for god’s sake.
Izuku was trying to pretend he wasn’t grinning like an idiot, but the corners of his mouth kept twitching upward, and his face was slowly heating into an adorable pink.
“Wait—Kacchan,” he said, laughing breathlessly now, fingers coming up to gently push at Katsuki’s shoulder. “What are you doing? You’ve kissed me, like… nine times in two minutes.”
“Eleven,” Katsuki corrected, without shame. “You missed the two sneak attacks on your forehead when you blinked.”

The question came out barely audible, like he was saying it more to the air than to Katsuki himself.
Katsuki leaned down and kissed the corner of his mouth, slow and lingering. “I promise, baby.”
Izuku’s lips curled faintly, but his hold didn’t loosen.
With another soft groan—more at the unfairness of having a clingy boyfriend and a damn sense of responsibility—Katsuki very gently, very reluctantly
peeled Izuku’s arms off his waist, kissing each hand as he moved them.“Brute,” Izuku mumbled.

Katsuki blinked.
Izuku looked… wrecked. His hair was even messier than usual, dark curls fluffed up like he had been running his hands through them over and over. His eyes were bleary, ringed with exhaustion, and his cheeks were slightly flushed—from the cold? From embarrassment?

Izuku winced as Katsuki entered the kitchen, his crimson eyes sweeping over the chaos. The flour, the dirty bowls, the smeared counter.
Katsuki’s gaze landed on the tray of cupcakes. “Wait… did you make these?” His voice held an edge of surprise, his brows rising slightly.
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, offering a sheepish smile. “Uh, yeah. I thought I’d try baking… but it didn’t go as planned.”
Katsuki stepped closer, his lips twitching into what might’ve been a smile. “Well, color me impressed.” Before Izuku could warn him, Katsuki snatched a cupcake and took a bold bite.
The reaction was immediate.
Katsuki’s face turned a shade paler, his eyes widening as he struggled to swallow. “Ugh—What the actual—” He choked, spitting out the remnants into the trash. “Deku! What did you put in these?!”

That was until a familiar grumble interrupted him.
Katsuki stomped into the room, arms crossed, tail flicking behind him in an impatient rhythm. His ears twitched, but Izuku didn’t look up. He was so
close to finishing this chapter—Another grumble. This time louder.
Still, Izuku didn’t react.
Katsuki’s eye twitched. His tail flicked more aggressively.
And then—smack.
Izuku barely had time to register what was happening before Katsuki slammed his book shut, his hands bracing against the table as he loomed over him. His ears were twitching erratically now, tail flicking behind him in sharp, irritated snaps.
“What the hell, Kacchan?!” Izuku yelped, quickly pulling the book back toward him. He frowned, looking up, and that was when he noticed.
Katsuki wasn’t just grumpy. He was waiting.

Kirishima followed his gaze, and Katsuki saw the exact moment he connected the dots. His expression softened, his grin fading.
“Man,” Kirishima said softly, scratching the back of his neck. “You’ve got it bad, huh?”
Katsuki didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. The silence said everything.
Kirishima couldn’t relate. He had who he wanted, and that person loved him to the end of the world.

What an odd pair they made huh?
Kirishima and Todoroki. One loud and fiery, the other cool and composed. At first glance, they didn’t make sense, but somehow, they just... worked.
Katsuki hated how easy they made it look. The way Kirishima’s face lit up every single fucking time whenever Todoroki was around, or how Todoroki softened in a way that most people never got to see.

Izuku let out a long sigh, his voice quieter now. "Yeah... you’re right. I just—"
"Miss him," Ochaco finished for him with a small chuckle. "We get it. You’re hopeless. Head-over-heels for him."
"Hey!" Izuku protested weakly, though he couldn’t deny it.
“Oh please, you’ve been whining about missing him ever since he left.” Ochaco snickered.

Scrunching up his face, he sprinkled the chocolate and he turned around only to be met with Katsuki leaning against the island counter looking him up and down.
“What?” he said as he passed the drink to him.
“Nothing, ‘just thinking.” Katsuki shrugged.
“About what?” Izuku raised an eyebrow.
"Just thinking about... stuff," he mumbled.
Izuku knew that it wasn’t the truth and he minded it, but he didn't push it. Instead, he took a sip of his hot chocolate and smiled.
"This is really good Kacchan. Thank you."
Katsuki just grunted in return and ruffled up Izuku’s hair.
“Don’t worry about it nerd. For now, just enjoy the hot coco.”
