You inhale a deep breath, holding it for as long as you can before they start to burn. She waits patiently. Exhaling, you answer, “I don’t know if I can, Nong Orm… I don’t know if I should.” Your eyes sting so you squeeze them shut.
“You have to, Ling, because I don’t know if I can keep doing this,” you hear Orm say, her voice sounding like how your eyes feel. Wet. “This week has been hard for me.”
or Lingling is having a tough time with her feelings and she just has to suck it up, because what is life if Orm isn't in it?
