Neil leans into him. He kisses Andrew’s lips, then his chin, then his jaw, and pushes the cuffs into Andrew’s upturned palms. At first, Andrew refuses to hold them, but Neil keeps shoving until Andrew’s fingers wrap around the metal.
“I’m not in the right place to know where the lines are with you,” he admits softly, clenching his eyes shut. “But I need you right now.”

Summary
Really, if they wanted to keep things fair and equitable, they could have found some impartial way to make the decision. Flipping a coin. Drawing straws. Rolling a die. But being distractingly hard didn’t always allow for rational thinking, and for two eighteen-year-old boys who appreciated the more physical aspects of life, neither of them would have been willing to hit the pause button to scramble out of bed and find a quarter or an old board game. They just kept going until someone gave in, and no matter who put what where, they both ended up exceedingly happy with the results.
Which worked.
Until the first time neither of them wanted to give in.
When Adam and Ronan can't agree on who's going to top, they solve their problem the old fashioned way: rock paper scissors.

Summary
With Gansey and Adam in Washington DC for a smarmy networking event, and Blue and Ronan having an extended sleepover in their absence, the four teens use the weekend apart from their significant others as an opportunity to ask for advice on taking the "next step" in their burgeoning relationships. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Andrew has deep-seated abandonment issues. Bee introduces some DBT concepts. Neil is restless; his PTSD shows itself in strange places but in predictable ways. They raise Andrew’s hackles whether he likes it or not. Recovery is a switchback country road.
The cats are a tether neither knew they needed.
