Summary
After opening the Vault, Rhys finds himself lost with Fiona in a jungle that may-or-may-not be on Pandora, and a niggling, familiar whisper at the back of his head. Soon, fuelled by desperation and exhaustion and something else he can’t place, he makes an extremely stupid decision that might get him, and everyone he loves, killed horribly. Or might help him get home. If he doesn’t totally lose his sanity first.
Meanwhile, despite being left locked up by Rhys, Yvette survived the fall of Helios. Working as a bounty hunter, she is trying to just survive long enough to figure out how to get off-planet. But when she encounters her old co-workers out in the wastes, Yvette finds herself roped into tracking down and rescuing the man who left her to die. Though she was sure she’d be able to do that much more successfully without the con-artist girl breathing down her neck.

Modern AU where Rhys is the spoiled rich kid heir to Maliwan. He is temporarily taking up presidential responsibilities because his mother has become fatally ill. Jack is still the classic ruthless CEO of Hyperion who sees an opportunity to take over his main competition. He plans to marry Rhys and kill him after his mother dies so that Maliwan is left to him, under false pretenses that Rhys is a woman. Needless to say he gets a big surprise, but he decides to go through with his plan anyway. Cue both of them trying to keep their fake relationship secret, and Jack taking poor sheltered Rhys out of his comfort zone, much to the disapproval of Rhys’ mother if she were to know. Jack doesn’t realize that he is slowly starting to actually like Rhys.

When Jack found the Vault of the Sentinel, it had been Hyperion and Tassiter following him along the way and capturing him in the end. This leads to sirens of the galaxy were collected for experiments so that Hyperion could know what Jack knows. Rhys ends up being captured as one of the sirens mixed up in this whole mess. To fight for one's freedom is one thing, but to fight to save the whole planet of Pandora is another.

It all started like how most things did with Hyperion.
Person A was an absolute douchenozzle, and eventually Person B got tired of it and decided to end it. It was a hard lesson learned on the first day of working for Hyperion, but it was a lesson that definitely got you through the day at the end of it all. And yeah, the results varied, but you typically had about a 78% chance of actually succeeding and living for at least 8 days, so that was definitely a plus. It was simple, easy, and rarely ever varied out of expectation.
This is the point where you realize that this is Hyperion, and nothing is ever simple and easy.
If only Rhys had realized that before he decided to go blackmail a certain asshole in a club without constantly checking his surroundings.
Oh well. At least he has a physical proof that Vasquez tattooed Handsome Jack's face on his ass.
