“Is that what you’ve been following me around for? To ask where the Supreme Archangel of Heaven is?”

Muriel rings their hands and looks apologetic when they nod. “Yes, well.”

“His location is in the title,” Crowley says slowly.

“Sure, of course. But—you see. Mr. Fell.”

“Aziraphale,” Crowley corrects them. “He’s not actually a bookshop owner.”

“Right,” Muriel says with a nervous flash of teeth. “See—but—he’s not actually Supreme Archangel of Heaven either.”

Crowley blinks. It’s the only indication that he takes the words as a slap to the face. He won’t let them see the sting in his eyes. “Since when?” he asks very casually—not because he wants to know. It’s purely small talk. He’s not interested in why Aziraphale would resign the position he left Crowley for or where he’s been since.

“Missed you rather terribly, actually.” Aziraphale admitted, a bit quieter. Then his fingers slipped beneath Crowley’s shirt hem to get at his bare skin, and Crowley’s lips curled into a smirk.

“Hunting for something, there, angel?” Crowley asked, inching closer to guide Aziraphale’s hand farther up his shirt. “’Cause I’d be more than happy to point the way.”

Aziraphale’s lips quirked a touch, but his eyes remained on his work. “Afraid I’m still hours from closing, dear.”

Crowley shrugged. “So?” he murmured into the scant few inches between his lips and Aziraphale’s temple, making a small upward gesture with his offhand.

The air around them shifted. Aziraphale knew the feeling, how could he not - the space around their bodies was now teeming with miraculous energy, creating a focus blur for the lesser beings in the shop. At last, he looked up from his work, cheeks blooming pink at the implication.

“You can’t be serious.” Aziraphale spoke lowly now.

    “Deadly.” Crowley said.

    Summary

When he opened the door to Aziraphale Fell, Crowley was convinced for a solid six seconds that he’d rung the wrong doorbell. He had talked to Mr Fell on the phone after all, when he’d booked the lesson. Soft-spoken and posh, he’d sounded just like every other retired civil servant with a sudden urge to take up the piano in a well-meaning attempt to ‘keep the faculties sharp.’

The man on his doorstep did not look like a seventy-year old ready to part with his hard-earned pension. Sure, the pale shirt, waistcoat, and chinos might as well have been nicked from Prince Charles’s wardrobe, but his hair was on the blond side of platinum and his face was smooth and round with the rosy cheeks of youth. Or the rosy cheeks of walking around London in early February. Either way, this bloke was young and hot and most definitely not here for a piano lesson.

‘I’m here for the piano lesson.’

This year's Bake Off is off to an interesting start. With a new co-host with the personality of a wet sponge, two of the youngest contestants ever, and an unfairly attractive Star Baker, host Anthony Crowley might just be in over his head.
