Sam blinked, startled. ‘Wha— I’ve been calling you Buck for months!’
The blue eyes had regained their furious blaze. ‘That was before you made this cockamamie bet. I am revoking your calling me Buck privileges.’
Sam pulled in a breath. ‘You have weird ideas about what constitutes a privilege.’ It was funny, really. It should be funny. Somehow, Sam didn’t feel like laughing, aware more of a sinking dismay. He didn’t, however, have time to address any of this and opted instead to ignore all of it.
Sam ‘The Falcon’ Wilson makes an ill-advised bet, goes around the world, nearly loses everything and discovers that what he wanted most has been right alongside him the whole time.

Summary
The building is fifteen stories and remarkably quiet. His own apartment is on the tenth floor. He comes here to eat (usually take-out) and sleep (on a bare mattress on the floor) and sit in the quiet hours where it isn’t really acceptable to be doing anything else. As he’s waiting for the elevator doors to open he hears a door behind him and the jingle of keys. It’s rare that someone is leaving at the same time he is but he doesn’t pay it much attention. The doors open, he steps inside, and turns.
She’s locking the door to her apartment (he never bothers), and glances over her shoulder at the open elevator. He’s not sure exactly what it is that makes him do it. In a lot of ways she’s unremarkable; pale skin, long brown hair. She’s wearing glasses (gold) and a jacket (green). He doesn’t look at her and see a threat, just a young woman like any other in the city. But something makes him reach out a gloved hand, and catch the elevator door as it starts to close.

Summary
Waking up and needing to be told that yes, his arm was gone and no, his family wouldn’t be visiting because they were dead, had actually almost killed him. It turned out that it was pretty difficult to off yourself in a hospital though, so there he was, sitting in a coffee shop, short one arm and twelve years worth of memories.
