Will's awake again, bathed in that four AM light that only insomniacs, selenophiles, and murderers understand so intimately. It’s a lonely kind of light. It rakes over his rumpled sheets and uncomfortable sleep clothes like an all-seeing eye, sweeping him with its cold regard and finding him wanting. Since the night in the barn, all he can think about is Hannibal’s touch. That need — it’s an aching, reckless, relentless monster in his chest. Hannibal had stood nearer than social standards allowed, wrapped his warm palm around Will’s neck, and pulled him even closer. He’d smelled Hannibal’s cologne so strongly that now, days later, it seems to linger in the air like a half-forgotten memory.
- Eventually, he'll have to come to terms with either himself or Hannibal. He has just the idea about how to facilitate that. Up for a little quid pro quo, Doctor?

Will carefully adjusted the sling over Hannibal's shoulder, fingers lingering on his skin, sensing when that perfunctory touch transformed into something more profound. The source of this change was nearly impossible to discern. Feeling the genesis of something while being blind to its root was as relieving as it was destabilizing– much like faith.
At the edge of the cliff overlooking a chasm, they discovered a bridge that takes two to cross.

Summary
When Will starts hallucinating at a crime scene, it becomes apparent there's something wrong with him. Despite the fact that it's becoming increasingly clear he's more than he seems, Will turns to Hannibal for help.
What started as sex has quickly tumbled into obsession, and Hannibal craves the vulnerability of being seen by Will. He finds he's not quite ready for the reality of it.

This is the kind of negotiation that Will has been winning for months, the kind where Hannibal offers a concession and Will accepts it and then, an hour later, offers a smaller concession in return, and then another, and then another, until the opera has been replaced by Hannibal’s weakness.
