Modern day cafe AU
Frank Iero is a barista who at one point really, truly enjoyed his job at the local cafe. But the powers that be (unchecked capitalism) have turned his workplace into something soulless and miserable, a thing he has to get through to pay his rent on time. The only thing worse than the new corporate bullshit is the newest regular: a weird, quiet guy who camps in the corner all day on his laptop and gets under Frank’s skin like no one else.

Summary
Part one
Frank is taking a gap year before Rutgers to focus on his band, Pencey Prep. Between practicing, playing shows, and writing new songs, he's got enough on his plate--and this might be the last chance for them to "make it" before "growing up" gets in the way. When Frank's not playing, he's working at Carousel Records with his friends Mikey and Ray, slinging records and cassettes and helping run the venue space in the back. Life's going great, and Pencey's got their first Carousel gig booked for Halloween (and Frank's birthday). That is, until the shop owner's new girlfriend decides she absolutely needs the space for her annual Halloween production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Coincidentally, Mikey's older brother, Gerard, is back in town, fresh off a breakup and considering dropping out of college. Gerard decides to audition for the shadow cast and lands the part of Dr. Frank N. Furter. And look, Frank's not really into musicals. He's not into the lipstick and stilettos, the lingerie, the singing. That is, until he sees Gerard in a corset and fishnets. It's a total mind fuck that's got Frank questioning everything about his sexuality, his friendships, and hell, even his songwriting's getting out of whack.
