“Lan Zhan, I have something to tell you. I’m really sorry.” Wei Wuxian paused for a moment whilst he fished something out of the pocket of his black jeans. Due to the angle the two boys were sitting at, Lan Qiren couldn’t see what the item was, but he heard Wangji’s sharp intake of breath as it was pressed into his palm.
“I’m pregnant, Lan Zhan.”
For a split second, Lan Qiren feared that his heart might actually stop beating. Pregnant. Wei Wuxian was eighteen years old and he was pregnant. Any question of who the father was, was clearly answered by the fact that Wei Wuxian was here, confessing all of this to Lan Qiren’s youngest alpha nephew.

There are so many bees. I got out of my car and there were just bees and I don’t want these bees. Do you want these bees? Please tell me you will come get these bees. I can’t leave my house and I have enough food for maybe a week but then I’m gonna have to learn how to cook dry beans and no one wants that, especially not me.” Wei Ying runs out of air, takes a breath, and belatedly adds, “My name is Wei Ying. Hi.”

I got afraid, terrified, that I’ll come and you won’t be here.” He unfurls his fists, smoothes his hands over his jean-clad thighs, grips them, like he needs to hold onto something. “I know… I know you don’t have to let me into your life,” he whispers. “And I understand I might not be wanted here. It’s been so long once we... But I just… I thought we could try to, still… maybe, we could try and be…”
Lan Zhan’s chest expands, then hollows.
“… friends?” He finishes for him. His voice sounds foreign, sounds dead.“Or something,” Wei Ying says. He turns his head around, meets Lan Zhan’s eyes. His face is pale and open, cracked into a vulnerable shape. “I’m still… you’re still very dear to me. I don’t think what we did back then was right. I’m sorry if you think otherwise, but I know that, for me, before everything, we were… good friends. No matter what happened after.”
