    For balance to be achieved, the Force required a union of light and dark. Fortunately for the Galaxy, it accomplished this quite easily. Unfortunately for the scions of light and dark, they didn’t exactly have a choice in the matter.

     

    Or: When Rey finds herself inexplicably pregnant, she has to learn how to deal with morning sickness, an overly doting sort of mother-in-law, and a supremely overprotective baby daddy who would tear down the Galaxy if anyone dared tried to hurt what was his.

    Days after the Resistance was nearly wiped out at the Battle of Crait, Rey and new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren are forced to realize that the bond between them was not extinguished when they went their separate ways.

    As the implications of their connection begin to become clear and they realize that their destinies are entwined, a new threat rises that threatens to destroy them all.

     

    “Whatever this bond is between us, it doesn’t seem to be going away,” Rey hissed through clenched teeth. “We have to deal with that, somehow, but we are still on opposite sides of a war. You chose that.”

    “Not much of a war,” he quipped with a nasty smirk. “There is almost nothing left of the Resistance and the First Order’s power still spreads. As for the bond between us,” he glanced pointedly at the spot on his chest where her head had been resting, “you didn’t seem to mind it last night.”

    Thick waves of black sea Rey wants to get lost in. It's not a desire that comes frequently.

    Celebrities can be spoiled and demanding, and Kylo Ren is as mercurial as one can get. But he sits obediently under her fingertips. Pliant. She wonders if there’s a hidden part of him that could be as supple as his tresses.

    Hair reflects the personality, after all.

    "Ready, sir," she says, combing a last strand into place with shaky fingers. Time is up and the Oscars await.

    His dark eyes meet hers in the mirror.

It could also be a path of imminent demise, this time at the hands of a madman; or it could lead somewhere safe and clean, with clear water and green grass. A place where lockjaw isn’t a legitimate fear anymore and the hordes are a distant memory. He has given her an ultimatum."
     
    Kylo finds Rey unconscious and near death on the side of a road, surrounded by twitching, wretched things looking to her for their next meal. Ever the altruist, he picks them off and takes her with him, saving her life in the process. It's no wonder that when she wakes she feels she owes him, and agrees to become his travel companion as he crosses the United States in search of safety and a new home.
