There is an emotion even Dazai cannot comprehend. This feeling leaves a dark hole deep within his heart. There is no proper way to express it, it is something beyond words.
Some would say this emotion he's experiencing is love but Dazai disagrees. Such a small and meaningless word cannot be enough to explain it. Besides, love is supposed to be pure and unconditional.

“Ah, finally! I wonder how long it’ll take until the hitman arrives.” Dazai grins.
“Hitman?!”
“I hope it’s not the same guy from last year. He was pretty weak.” Kenji says as if they’re having a casual conversation over lunch.
“This happened last year too?!” Atsushi looks around nervously, hoping said hitman isn’t currently on his way.
“Last year they broke up six times!” Kenji exclaims.
“Seven.” Dazai corrects him.
(Or Dazai and Chuuya break up, resulting in one too many assassination attempts from Chuuya.)
