Summary
"April really didn’t like Dale much. She’d known for a while that the only reason he hung out around her was because she was also considered to be a bit of an outcast and didn’t care enough about the weird vibes he exuded to shoo him. He’d been pretty insignificant to her life so far, but this was overstepping things a bit much.
She focused on seeming relaxed and unaffected, demonstratively taking a slow sip from her waterbottle. Maybe if she pretended hard enough, he’d get the gist and leave.
”It’s pretty suspicious you know, is there some kind of secret boyfriend I should know about?” he suddenly snarked with an accusing tone that felt entirely too personal.
Her nostrils burned with how rapidly water shot out of them. Oh god. Of course, that’s what he’d suspect. The dots she’d been wilfully ignoring for years connected right before her eyes. Of course he’d have some weird crush on her for simply being a girl and not outright rejecting him as even just an acquaintance and was ready to make his move at last. She wanted to throw something, preferably at his face."
