Somehow it worked stupidly well. Seungkwan made phone calls for Vernon, who diligently woke him up before his classes when he forgot to set his alarm. He made excuses for Vernon to leave a conversation during the dance club, and Vernon covered for him when he realized Seungkwan had no idea of what they were talking about anymore.
And it suited them, so it was fine.

Jeonghan sighs. “She… we were friends last year.”
Seungcheol’s frown deepens, until he can feel his eyelashes almost brush his brow bone. “We’re driving to Jeju for someone you’re not friends with?”
He can’t see Jeonghan, but he imagines how he looks, arms crossed and eyes in his lap. “You don’t have people you care about even when you hate them?” Jeonghan says quietly.

Jisung walks over to Mark with a twisted smile on his lips. He cradles Mark's hand to force the green velvet box closed, just so the shine of the ring stops threatening to blind him. He wraps stiff arms around Mark's body, presses guilt-dirty hands to his back, and whispers an uglily forced, "Yeah, sure. Congrats, hyung," into his brother's sweaty hair.
Mark laughs his high-pitched giggle into the crook of Jisung's neck, back straightened up to throw his arms around his shoulders, feet bending at the tips because it is now Jisung the one who's always a bit too out of reach. Jisung would swallow mud a million times to get him laughing like this.
