Jinx Lane will always regret the day she met Luxanna Crownguard.
Luxanna had seemingly grown attached to Jinx from the time they were ten, claiming her as her own. And because she was much richer than Jinx, she could get away with it. In fact, her parents encouraged Jinx to be her friend so they could get something out of it to by being friends with the Crownguard family.
Seven years later, the two of them were still friends but it was complicated. Jinx hated Lux who seemed perfect but was the devil in disguise. Bad things happened around Lux, terrible things. And only Jinx knew the truth. But the two of them were best friends, and a part of Jinx loved the fact that Lux doted on her. Even if it came with the price of being the object of Lux's obsession.

Jinx Lane is obsessed with Luxanna Crownguard.
She was absolutely perfect, a shining light amidst the darkness that was in Jinx's life. They weren't really close. To be clear, they weren't close at all. They had probably only spoken twice to each other but it was enough to make Jinx fall. For the first time someone had noticed her. She wasn't some weird freak or practically invisible. And while Jinx knew her fascination with Lux came from wanting to be like her, she knew that it came with wanting to be with her deep down.
Her obsession takes a new level when Jinx decides to break into Lux's apartment, wanting to be close to her. And maybe take some items that would remind Jinx of her. It starts off successful but it's not long before she's confronted with an unexpected and horrible surprise. Lux comes back home and instead of calling the police, she knocks Jinx out and when Jinx wakes up again, she's tied up in Lux's bedroom with no chance of escape.

Summary
Jinx Lane is recovering from her stint at a mental hospital, accidentally causing herself to nearly die. Suffering from severe emotional problems and self harm issues, Jinx knew that she needed to make a change. In an effort to clean up her act, Jinx decides to apply for a job as a secretary for a rich and successful lawyer, Silco Fitzroy. He's cold and demanding but it was exactly what Jinx needed. She helps him around the office, makes sure to type out all of his important documents, and always gets him his coffee. There's no reason for their relationship to ever progress beyond that.
Except for the fact that Jinx finds herself falling for Silco quickly. She's turned on by his controlling, stern behavior and realizes that she needs him. And he, in turn, finds himself enamored by Jinx. The girl had yet to leave his side, even with how impossible he could be. Everyone left him, except for Jinx.
