“Who’s this?” Jin Ling holds up the polaroid for his uncle to see.
The person in the photo is resting on a couch with a gaudy floral pattern, one leg propped up against the armrest with a pair of chunky platform boots. Head turned slightly away from the camera, and the spikes in his ear and on his choker glow from the flash, standing out against his black hair and dark clothes. There’s something familiar about the photo, like Jin Ling has seen the person before.
His uncle’s face goes through a series of emotions, before landing on a bland and unconvincing smile.
“Ah, just an old friend.” Is what Wei Wuxian says.
Jin Ling squints at the photo for a moment and tries to place where he recognizes the cheekbones from, when it dawns on him. “Uhm. I think that’s Sizhui’s dad.”
Or, Jin Ling is pretty sure that his friend’s dad is the same guy that his uncle used to have a crush on in the ’90s, it’s just a matter of figuring out how to get them to actually talk to each other.
