    Illustrating that, however brilliant he was, Feanor has a serious lack of people skills. It seems that he made a large number of critical decisions without fully considering how others would react, and almost certainly without real consultation, and has basically spent the intervening 750 years holding to a large number of mistaken assumptions. Including having no sense of how others would view or interpret his admittedly radical actions.

    Presumably, the Valar figured he would eventually figure this out on his own, or were at least comfortable letting him stew.?
