Summary
Flux drums his fingers against the table, not meeting his eyes. "People tend to say stupid things when they think they're about to die," he says.
"You didn't mean it, then?"
Some undefinable expression flits across his face before it settles back into stony impassivity. "I thought you called me here to discuss, oh I don't know, the endless loop in time that we're both stuck in, for some godforsaken reason?"
Saps exhales long and slow through his nose. Fine. They don't have to talk about it. He can ignore the small, naive part of him that had hoped they might come to some sort of understanding. That had thought maybe this loop could be their second chance.
Or, Saparata is stuck in a time loop, reliving the Battle of Infernus over and over again. In order to break out of it, he needs help from the one other person trapped alongside him: Fluixon.

“You’ll fall.” Fluixon shot back instantly.“Flux, you don’t even know what I was talking about. You didn’t even look.”
Jophiel, seated between them, sipped her drink. “You should look, Flux.” She said, shit-eating grin spreading across her face.
Fluixon sighed. He did look, and he saw the half-built Acropolis. The single most important building of their settlement, scaffolding stretching upward like an invitation to disaster.
“No.” He repeated, with feeling.
