Summary
“Sorry—didn’t mean to scare you,” Jisung mumbles, pushing his glasses back up with one finger.
Renjun’s gaze flickers to the movement. That hand. It’s ridiculously big—his fingers long and clumsy in a way that looks both awkward and strangely compelling. Renjun swallows, suddenly hyper-aware of how dry his throat feels.
He doesn’t respond right away. The alcohol makes everything slightly off-kilter, the edges of Jisung’s silhouette fuzzy, so he has to focus, really concentrate, to take him in. The details settle piece by piece: the soft grey shirt stamped with a nerdy pun Renjun doesn’t even try to understand; the faded blue jeans worn just enough to be comfortable; the beat-up red Converse, scuffed and frayed at the edges. And then, the glasses—thick black frames that belong on a library shelf more than on someone’s face. They should look ridiculous. But on Jisung, they’re… distracting.
“Hyung?”
Renjun blinks. “Yeah?” His own voice comes out low, almost cautious, like he’s afraid of startling the younger boy.
“Do you, uh… still need help with the water?”

Summary
The staff meeting after Cat had broken her foot had involved a lot of reassigning, since she couldn’t exactly do the usual society beat with her foot in a boot. So much that Clark hadn’t really thought twice when Perry had said “and Kent, you’ll take the new Wayne foundation piece,” because sure, he liked working the philanthropy stories occasionally. It wasn’t until they’d gotten back to their desks that Lois had burst into a fit of snickering and said “oh, I would pay money to see how you’re going to handle Bruce Wayne for two weeks,” and Clark had realized how majorly screwed he was.

"I'm a difficult person to love, Clark," Bruce says quietly, turning away from him to stare at some indistinct point across the cave. He's building a wall with that single sentence. Clark can feel it rise between them, made of stone and old grief. "I don't recommend it." He makes a small, humorless sound, as if that entire statement were some kind of punchline he's only just now understanding.
"Who asked for a recommendation?" Clark's reply comes out sharper than he intended, raw and a little too honest. "I'm a big boy, Bruce. I can make my own decisions."
(Or, as it turns out, Clark's feelings aren't as unrequited as he previously believed.)
