Summary
Sasuke’s grin was magnificent as it was infuriating, “Seem to remember you wishing to be included in all my schemes.”
Naruto’s own words felt unconvincing: “You’re fucked.”
Sasuke rolled his eyes, “Neji’s aware, if that settles your inherent need to please everyone.”
He felt the heat return to his cheeks, “Shut up.” He insisted, “If that were the case, I’d be in his position, wouldn’t I?”
Sasuke nodded emphatically, “That’s true. Then, I suppose, it’s just reserved for me now?”
Or, Sasuke and Naruto are a little misguided, but really, they're just in love.

Bookmarker's Notes
this is naruto uzumaki and sasuke uchiha written by an author who thoroughly understands their friction, the praxis of their relationship in canonverse, their struggles, and their …. mountains.
in easier words, and words maybe write sasuke uchiha wud have wanted me to use instead of purple prosing in an attempt to hide that this is fluff, this is a rly great piece with great characterization. i just feel so strongly about how it is a challenge to write characters outside canonverse, when the shinobi world has vastly different rules and societal dynamics imposed. ie. how are we going to still write about itachi and the uchiha clan if murder in modern day au is not as easy as it is in canonverse? or how do we translate the depth of naruto’s ninja way/great optimism when vying for hokage/wanting to save sasuke isnt a clear translatable thing in modern day aus. there are so many ways to do it, to twist and bend the characters too but wow. this truly felt like . a branch of their canon universe.
my only gripe about this is im left to imagine what and how their relationship progresses after they leave japan. how does the friend group exist as well/broach their separation? what r the lives of the other people like? what does kakashi actually do …. and its great to be frustrated to not know because these characters and stories and backgrounds feel palpable and its all thanks to the writer as well.
mad props to the research and worldbuilding of the music journalism industry. it actually also inspired me to write down my serious thoughts on music :| while rolling stone feels less legitimate and more of a cash mill for marketing nowadays (see: taylor swift’s the life of a showgirl critical acclaim for an album thats absolute dogcrap), this work just transports you into that world. also, the introduction of other legends in the story and their characterization, the music knowledge and criticism of the author is also well informed its so cool. its both a character study and a way to immerse u in showbiz and the nitty gritty behind it.

this was a very interesting read and perspective to write from. being memorialized war heroes and their heroification v. reading into their letters instead and looking past their image. this is a very fitting take of the canon, it reads like a short film or something that actually happens.
i think one central theme of part ii of naruto would be misogyny and homophobia in a ~way~ and this stretches that theme very well, looking into their marriages and being more truthful to canon with how it was only ever naruto and sasuke who truly understood each other. but they don't write it that way but show it with the other characters that surround their life.
anyway this is a really good fic that flows realistically and fits post 700 canon very well. if u also r a history nerd i think ud enjoy how they approached writing this fic.
thank u to the translator and the author :)

i genuinely got so dizzy after reading this because of how emotionally upset i got. i have a usual fast reading pace (~1.5 hours for a 100k words at times). i needed 4 hours to get through this. especially that last chapter. everything that disrupted the lull of the final moments they had together had me crying haha tis so reminiscent of loss we encounter in life but god. this feels like something they wud experience in a parallel universe.
greatly written. i cried. i barely cry these days and this was the kicker. wow.

going wildly offtangent here: my (possibly) greatest love of all time recommended me this years ago when i asked her what she thought was the best sns (?) fic ever … downloaded this, held off reading this for years, changed phones, ended things with her and yet, i got to read this finally. it was hard to find this because what i remembered was kintsugi being the title ( of the sequel) and not this and i squeezed my braincells to look for this. lo and behold. finally read this after i finally caught up with some shippuden lore in an unemployed haze of 2 months.
back on track: was spoiled alot on certain canonverse shit…. my Fault for not holding off more but i wanted to understand why she liked this so much and i found out why. and i have my reasons to like this as well, enough that i wished i had read this on my own. love can bring you to do many things, that much i know, it can bring you around the world or sometimes scour the internet at 3am. it can also withstand so much. this is a rly indulgent (?) piece that peers into a long enduring love that finally lets itself manifest plain in sight. i hope they love each other forever and keep each other safe 🫂 idk feeling emotional in how well weaved this is. this is my canon fuck u kishimoto

“Four months from now will be the seven year anniversary of when you and Osamu Dazai released your hugely successful first and only album Double Black and its diamond single Corruption. After performing with Dazai earlier this year, are you planning anything special to celebrate?”
“Corruption is insanely overrated, and I would prefer to never hear Dazai’s voice for the rest of my fucking life.”

it’s hard to write about skk. it’s hard to write skk. these r two statements ive replayed in my head while i finished bsd because, how do you contextualize the enigma that is dazai osamu and the god incarnate chuuya nakahara . not much to go on about. we don’t even know much about how skk handled their time together before dazai left but this made perfect inferences to their falling out. this is not just a skk piece but dazai is very well humanized as a character which i rarely come across in skk fics, which is not to insult them it is difficult to broach his history.
but anyway, this treated chuuya beyond the damsel in distress kind of treatment he gets and elevates it even. dazai as a calculating person even gets incorporated in the fic in not an overt manner but subtle (and even pays off when he picks up chuuya’s idiosyncrasies. my god. the acts of service. i actually can see that happening.) i am glad we have fanon of this caliber :)

i think this is a heavily underrated written piece. the narrative has the right tempo pat down on how these two would suddenly materialize their intangible links that have tethered them to each other for so long……. and it isn’t so much as a loud exclamation but the slow disruption of their old routines for their new ones. the alhaitham in this is so smitten and sure i lawv it. i think about this everyday.

Summary
“Miya-san,” Keiji says, his fingers now pressed against his temples to keep the scrambled thoughts in his head from leaking out. He still doesn’t know what Miya is talking about, but he has a familiar sinking feeling that it can’t be anything good, and he can usually trust his intuition. It’s led him this far, anyway. “I really do not know what you are talking about, but can you please mind the volume of your voice?”
“So polite while you’re telling me to shut up,” Miya huffs, his arms now properly crossed over his chest. It’s young and roguish, the grin on his face. Smirk, if you would. “No, Akaashi-kun, I’m talking about the fact that I have a small Instagram presence to fulfill my secret food critic dreams and I’m being positively threatened by a couple of big shots from Lamplighters.”
Keiji no longer has to deliberate on who is the worst of the Miya twins. It’s definitely Osamu.
Akaashi Keiji works as an critic for the esteemed restaurant review organization Lamplighters, and Miya Osamu is just another food influencer that Keiji could not explain what he dislikes so much about him.
Well, he can try.

“I’m Kageyama Tobio, but you can just call me—”
“Tobio-chan,” Tooru says decisively, a swift cut off to what Tobio had been about to say, and his voice dies in his throat, suffocating before a lack of oxygen. “It’s so nice to meet you.” His hand falls out of his hold and Tobio’s returns limply to his side, fingers held out in remembrance of the shape and finding thin air.
Tómas is looking at them inquisitively. “What is that name you just called Tobio, eh, Tooru?”
“It’s a Japanese thing,” Tooru says dismissively, turning and giving him a wide grin.
In another universe where Tobio and Tooru never met, their paths cross when Tobio goes to San Juan instead of Italy.
