Eddie turns to look at her, runs his gaze over her, and she sees an entire train of thought play out on his face. Then, he turns back to face away from her again and tucks his face into his hands for a minute. Hen can hear the distant clamor of cars behind them and the faint chirping of crickets. It’s almost comical, how loud the silence between them is, and for a long minute she thinks he isn’t going to tell her. But then he does, in a rush of hot air in the tight space. “I slept with him.”
