“...Thank you, Drake. For letting me stay here.” His tone was the softest the older vigilante had ever heard. “I’m at a loss of what to do…and what to believe in. I do not understand what I’m fighting for anymore.”
Tim’s blue eyes softened as he approached Damian and laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey…it’s okay. It’s okay to be confused and lost. I’ve felt like that so many times, I get it,” he spoke gently. “I know things are crazy right now, but at least we’ve got each other. We’ll stop Bruce’s rampage and help him. Together.”
At this, he finally gave in to his secret desire and wound his arms around the boy, hugging him for a second time that day. Except it felt much better this time because they weren’t soaking in the rain and Damian returned the embrace as he slowly raised his hands and clutched the back of Tim’s shirt. They stayed like that for a quiet moment, long enough for Tim to be acutely aware of his racing heartbeat the more he reveled in Damian’s warmth and how perfectly he fit in his arms.
He suddenly wanted Baby Bat to stay here forever and extracted himself from the hug before he could say or do something stupidly embarrassing.
