Summary
Ilya holds Amber in his arms and looks seriously into her tiny eyes. She giggles appreciatively at him. At the end of the hall, he can see Pike trying not to let his dismay show. Ilya enjoys holding the baby nearly as much as he enjoys the discomfort building on Pike’s face as he watches them.
She hasn’t managed words quite yet, but they’re close. “Ro za nov,” he says, trying to get Amber to repeat it back. She is a happy baby, born to a perfect family. He hopes her whole life will be as happy and boring as this.
Ilya and Shane babysit the Pike kids for New Year's.

Summary
During his weeks at the cottage the only people Shane usually had to interact with were his parents, and it was always so—nice. Such a relief. To not have to be a person, for a couple of weeks. Or, at least, to not have to be the kind of person other people seemed to think that he was, or that a hockey player was, or that a hockey player had to be. It wasn’t just about pretending he was straight. Sometimes, despite doing his best to ignore the jabs, Shane was forced to confront the fact that he really did often feel like a robot, and that the cottage was—for lack of better phrasing—his recharge time. And now—now Ilya was here. And Shane knew how to kiss him, how to play against him, how to be fucked by him, but there was no rulebook for this.

Summary
Shane pulls back, carefully cradling Ilya’s face. “Maybe we shouldn’t.”
“You don’t want to?” Ilya’s eyes are bottomless; swimming with grief. He says it like he really means, You don’t want me?
“That isn’t what I mean,” Shane says gently, brushing his thumb over Ilya’s cheekbone. Ilya’s eyes flutter shut, as if being treated so tenderly causes him physical pain. Like he isn’t used to it. “You’re hurting. I don’t want you to regret it in the morning.”
Ilya’s eyes open. “I have never regretted a moment with you.”

Summary
He thinks of Ai Di, the brother, three years his junior, with a personality that blusters out ahead of him and gets him into scrapes.
And then he thinks of this other Ai Di—mouth open beneath his, waistband clutched in his fist, throat flexing under his palm. Taunting him about love and sex every day, like some sort of demon. Making him jealous, making him worry.
What is Ai Di to him? He doesn’t fucking know. He kind of hates him right now. And through it all, he loves him.
Chen Yi has an eight year long crisis.
(A series of birthday wishes, sexual awakenings, and drunken misunderstandings from Chen Yi's POV, weaving in and out of canon)
