Summary
Somehow, in some twisted, unbelievable turn of events, the fate of the entire planet, billions upon billions of people, had fallen on Ryland Grace's shoulders. It was a burden he wasn't fit to carry. A burden that he could feel in all its massiveness weighing down on his chest, squeezing his lungs until all he could eke out of them where wheezing, barely-there breaths.
He pressed his forehead harder against his knees and curled his fingers tight around some of the fabric of his pants, his knuckles turning white. He couldn't—this wasn't how it was supposed to—
His life—his kids—
Simon.
Or Ryland Grace is a middle school teacher turned lead astrophage scientist. Simon Fischer is a convict turned engineering specialist. Surely absolutely nothing could go wrong on a cosmic scale because neither of them are astronauts.

Summary
It's the first winter after Pitch's defeat. Jack is happy, he's not alone anymore, and his memories are gradually returning. But when a treasure hunt gone wrong puts Jack and Jamie in danger, flinging them through time and space, they find themselves on an island neither of them have heard of before. Jack's first priority is to get Jamie home safe, but Berk's inhabitants - human and otherwise - are certainly not making it easy.
Knowing they will leave Berk and the Vikings behind as soon as they know how to, Jack is not going to risk the pain of growing close to any of these people (or dragons, for that matter). But Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, wearing his heart on his sleeve, doesn't seem to want to take the hint.

Summary
Kazimir Volkov has been the oldest thing walking the earth for nine hundred years. He is seven feet seven of muscle, frost, and bad reputation. He rules the largest hidden kingdom on the map — the Night Tsardom of Chernokrov — and keeps a court of beautiful men and women who would bleed themselves pretty for one glance. He does not glance.
Eliot Hart is twenty-three, five-foot-four, and trying to finish his folklore midterm without having a panic attack in the stacks. He is quiet. He is kind to the point of foolishness. He is a human omega on cheap suppressants, a trans man with a body the world keeps misreading, and the last person who should smell like something a dead king would kneel for.
Then the Conclave of Crowns opens a door through a university museum, and the oldest vampire on earth looks twice.
He does not look away again.
