Diluc is just so small. So malleable, so obedient—yes, he’d been occasionally headstrong in the past, had dared to have thoughts of his own, but Crepus was always quick to squash them down flat the moment they popped up. The only independent thought Diluc needed to have was of him and nothing else. Diluc returns home after his father’s funeral.
Diluc can smell something almost medicinal on his breath and hisses in annoyance. “You’re high again, asshole. Your head isn’t working right.” He wonders which man Kaeya thinks he is, which one of his hook-ups he had wanted to seduce this way. “We can talk when you’re fully sober. You’re barely functioning as it is—just go to bed already, will you?”
“No… no, I can still be good. Just… please stay still,” Kaeya assures with a vacant eye, hands shaking but sure in their movements as he places them on Diluc’s chest. Everything about him right now is smooth and mechanical, dizzily so, strangely so, like he’s rehearsing the steps to a play he’d already memorised a long time ago. He smiles, an anxious, twitchy thing, and his voice trembles in vulnerability when he adds, “Don’t worry, okay? I’ll do the rest.”
