Summary
Ukyo usually wouldn’t think anything more of it. He felt nothing but happiness for them at the beginning - Gen’s been his best friend in the Stone World, he knows how long he’s been in love with him for. Plus, they’re young and just got together after years of pining, they’re allowed to have an annoying honeymoon period that’s slightly awkward for everyone else around them. Ukyo would’ve let them be dumb for a little while and then breathed a sigh of relief with everyone else in the Kingdom of Science when Senku and Gen finally came to their senses again.
That’s how it would’ve gone if it wasn’t for the goddamn tapping.

Summary
“Gen,” Senku rounded on him, suddenly grabbing him by the shoulders and looking straight into his eyes. His eyes flashed momentarily with shock, but it vanished as soon as it came. “What are you doing?”
Gen’s brows drew together slightly, his lips tightening just a few millimeters’ worth, but that small give was more than enough. His voice was quiet, almost embarrassed. “I really thought you would’ve figured it out on your own, Senku-chan. I waited for so long to see if you would.” Senku kept quiet, refusing to indulge in any more beating around the bush. This was usually the easiest way through the maze of Asagiri Gen — smoke him out with resolute silence. “...fine. I can sort of read minds.”

“Thinking about the future, perhaps? Maybe making some mental war plans…” Gen mused thoughtfully, noting the way Senku relaxed slightly, like he managed to throw Gen off his trail. Unfortunately for the poor scientist, that in itself was a tell. Gotcha. “Oh, or maybe you’re thinking about the past, hm?”
Immediately, “No.”
“You’re an awful liar, Senku-chan.”Senku struggles. Gen helps.

Summary
Like this, he could see that Gen was truly in his element. It had probably been quite some time since he was able to genuinely put on a show for other people, but now - now he had a completely fresh audience. Even the simplest tricks amazed them. Senku wasn’t even very close - he was leaned up against the side of a hut about 30 feet away from where Gen was standing - and it was dark out, save for the small fire in the middle of the village, but even with all that, he could see clear as day the way Gen’s eyes gleamed in the dancing light of the fire. Huh.
Of course, as is with all things, someone just had to break out the alcohol. It seemed even after 3,700 years, the nature of human social gatherings hadn’t changed.
Or, Gen and Senku work up the nerve to say things to each other after Gen gets drunk.
