    It started like it always did, a dull, pulsing pain in your eye, the one that hasn’t been your own in quite a while. From there it had slowly spread to the other eye, the one that’s actually still your own, making your vision swim. The pain had made its way outward from there, spreading throughout your whole head, making it hard to hold on to a thought, let alone a conversation. Every sound feels like a needle being driven through your temples, the calls of the birds in the forest sounding like nails dragging along chalkboard. It makes you want to claw at your eyes, but you settle for digging the heels of your hands into them instead.
