The barrel of the gun swayed back and forth in his unsteady grip. Sweat clung to his brow and clammed up his hands. All was silent besides constant, shaking inhale-exhale as Tommy tried to steady his heartbeat. The fluorescent hum of the lightbulb hanging above him grated his ears. He couldn’t hear the monster anymore, the absence of its growl bringing anything but comfort.
