Summary
Back when he still lived at home, Sirius had been certain that he wouldn’t make it to eighteen. Those thoughts had stopped when he came to live with the Potters. He’d found hope again. Happiness. But that was over. So he would be proving young Sirius right. The only difference was that he wouldn’t be dying by Walburga's hands, like he’d thought then. The hands tying the rope would be his own.
He stared down at the abyss in front of him, eyes stuck and unfocused as they reached for the ground. His mind had already jumped weeks ago. He just needed a last bit of courage to make his body take the final step as well.

Post-Prank Sirius is alone and in a worse headspace than ever. Remus hadn't talked to him for weeks and the rest of his friends had followed James' lead in ignoring and excluding him. He'd lost everything. The only thing he had left was his life and he was starting to think that it was worth nothing now that he'd lost his friends... now that he'd lost Remus. With a guilty conscience, Sirius' mind reaches for his last hope of making everything right again.
