“Uh,” Souma says stupidly. “Okay. Why, though?”
“Small pleasures,” Takumi calls. “Air hockey, 3D pinball, claw machines, getting fries after and watching the grease drip onto the paper… you told me to have fun, right?”

Soma didn't doubt that Takumi held affection for Soma, and in fact, was just as capable of dishing out compliments to Soma as the other way around. But there was something bothersome about how quickly, how easily Takumi would shift the focus whenever Soma tried to show his own affection verbally.
So, something had to be done about that.

“I did,” Takumi chirped, propping his head up. He stared at Souma with admiration, never daring to look away. “But she’s gone. It’s just me here now.”
Takumi inched closer – dying to be near Souma as his breath hitched. He watched Souma closely, unable to calm his racing heart as Takumi anticipated Souma’s words. Though, when Souma finally spoke up again, it was as if Takumi’s world suddenly stopped.
