Jake’s heart aches, and he knows that his face shows. And although he wants to be strong for her, he realizes that he can’t, not right now and in this situation.

It has been a few weeks since the Sully family has found a new home with the Metkayina clan. Things are beginning to work out, Jake feels.
But when him and Neytiri are supposed to join the Metkayina for a day of fishing, out at sea, he cannot find his wife in the village. What ensues is a confrontation he has pushed back for too long.

Jake looked at her, confused, eyebrows furrowing, and all she did was smile ever slightly before moving in closer. She intertwined their arms and ran her nimble hands over one of his.
