He sat up after a moment, scooting closer to Dazai and brushing his hair behind his ear lightly. “Hey, you okay?” he asked, more gently, regretting his harsh words at the sound of Dazai’s fragile tone.
It was unlike Dazai to be reprimanded and not come up with some stupid insult to fire back at Chuuya, calling him a dog or some bullshit.
“Can’t sleep.” Dazai mumbled, and Chuuya picked up on the hint of anxiety interwoven in Dazai’s quiet voice.
Ah, so that was it. Chuuya’s expression softened.

Once he came close to where his car was, still trapped in his head, Chuuya pressed the button on his keys and heard the sound of his car unlocking.
What followed was the sound of someone being… startled?
Chuuya snapped to attention, eyes wide and on alert, and he prepared himself for whatever threat there was.
He did not know what he was expecting, be it an enemy, an attacker, or a kidnapper.
He just definitely was not expecting Dazai.
