    Of course those statements were all true, but only from a certain point of view.

    "Cupcake?"

    Her words are lost on Caitlyn, who's far too focused on everything else around her to respond. The sound of the other customers and the music playing on the record player in the corner and the faint noise of equipment clattering in the kitchen beyond the doors and Vi's voice all jumble together to become one incoherent mess, impossible to separate from one another.

    "Cait."

    And it's not even that warm outside, but perhaps simply the body heat from everybody in the room is raising the temperature, because Caitlyn's shirt is suddenly extremely stifling and feels like it's clinging to her skin. The feeling of the hair against the back of her neck is hot, too, and it takes everything in her to not reach up and start scratching like a madman at the skin of her neck and her scalp.

    "Do you know what you would like, madam?" a voice asks. Who is it asking? Is it asking Caitlyn? It could be talking to anyone else in the shop, why would it being talking to her specifically?

    Why is it so fucking loud?

     

    Caitlyn sees a doctor about her eye. Despite Vi's best efforts, it all goes downhill from there.

    “‘Sides, why would I wanna hang out with those guys when I can hang out with some lameass Topsider sneaking down here all the time, huh?”

    Caitlyn nudges Powder with her shoulder, and the younger girl giggles and leans her head against Caitlyn with a sigh. Adjusting herself in her seat a bit, Caitlyn settles back so they’re both slouched comfortably against each other. She lies her cheek on the top of Powder’s head, humming.

    “I guess we’re stuck being a pair of misfits, then,” Caitlyn says softly. Powder giggles again a little, and Caitlyn smiles in response, closing her eyes and relaxing as the warm vent winds blow around them.

     

    Maybe in another life, these two could have been friends.

    Jinx a councillors daughter has been poking her head where its not supposed to be in her aim to investigate the elusive undercity sniper and learn more information on the chemical barons and their operation. Lured into a trap she finds shes un able to pull the trigger too curious to go through with it.

    Caitlyn on the other hand has stopped being a person in the eyes of zaun and is now a weapon she finds shes been craving companionship a lot more then she thought so much so shes willing to put up with the enforcer she was tasked to kill if it means getting to chat to a human being.
