Summary
There’s a tense moment, where they step in tandem around each other, to music that no one can hear, and the stranger, with their calculating eyes still on Oluwande, steps backwards into the darkened doorway of Spanish Jackie’s, the blade vanishing into their sleeve.
Oluwande shrugs and turns away, idly wondering if he’ll return tomorrow morning to a new bloodstain - with those reflexes, his money is on the mysterious stranger. Months later, he’ll wonder at how such a seemingly minuscule moment would shift the course of his future in such a major way.
