Kazuki made a loud sigh, leaning forward across the table with eyes heavy with scrutiny, he asked, “When was the last time you saw a dentist?”
Rei, in an incredibly Rei’s fashion when he was dodging questions, turned his face towards the empty side of the room in order to avoid Kazuki’s eyes. But his restless leg simply gave it away.
“Reiiiiiii,” Kazuki pressed, more sternly this time.
Rei mumbled under his breath so low Kazuki couldn’t even catch it. Kazuki called him out again, louder this time, before Rei begrudgingly let out, “Haven’t been to one since highschool.”
Kazuki slammed his fist on the table as he shouted, “Huh?!! What did you just say?!”

Hubert avoided it.
Their final year. Hubert and Ferdinand were friends. Ferdinand had no date. And Hubert realized he might perhaps maybe somewhat enjoy it - possibly - if he attended with Ferdinand.

Marianne was standing just outside the small wooden fence that surrounded the run, a small bouquet of daisies held close to her chest. Her cheeks were flushed and a lock of hair had escaped her headband. The midday sun was at the perfect point in the sky to light up Marianne like a saint and Bernadetta would have whole-heartedly believed her to be an angel.
“I, um,” Marianne gestured at the flowers. “I found these this morning on my walk, and I thought you might like them. They, um, reminded me of-”
Whatever Marianne was going to say was interrupted by one of the chickens jumping up and plucking a flower out of Marianne’s hands, leading to the poor woman being bombarded by hungry hens realising that something edible was within reach.
The bouquet stood no chance.
A short story about Bernadetta and Marianne trying to say "I love you" without using words.
