Summary
Hitoshi is still flying on the high of Aizawa calling him his son by the time they make it back home. Remembering it makes Hitoshi feel all warm and tingly inside and for the first time in his life, he hopes nothing shatters this moment.
He wants to live in this one single moment for as long as he can, still hearing Aizawa's voice calling him that.
And then Aizawa stops the car and turns towards him, his eyes dark and serious.
"Listen, Hitoshi," he says and just like that, ice creeps up Hitoshi's spine.

"Are you doing okay?" he wants to know and Hitoshi nods once because what else is he supposed to do?
If he says no, it won't change anything. Aizawa might want to turn them around and drive back home then, but that would be a violation of the rules in place and it would make it that much easier for CPS to take him away from Aizawa and Yamada, and that is really the last thing Hitoshi wants.
He doesn't think he could survive it, if he were placed anywhere else.
"Are you sure?" Aizawa presses and he seems to believe it even less when Hitoshi nods this time, but he doesn't ask again and instead just reaches over to put a steadying hand to Hitoshi's shoulder. "It will be fine. We'll go in, talk to them and we'll be back out before you know it."
"Sure," Hitoshi somehow gets out because that middle part is exactly what he's scared of.

Hitoshi fumbles his phone out of his pocket and dials Aizawa's number, not caring about the time at all, because Aizawa said to call him whenever if it's urgent and this is very urgent.
"Aizawa speaking," Aizawa says as he picks up the phone and Hitoshi lets out a long breath.
"It's Shinsou. I need your help."
"It's the middle of the night," Aizawa gives back and Hitoshi rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, and I'm injured and currently without a home. You want me to call back tomorrow?" he snarks and he thinks he hears Aizawa suck in a surprised breath.

Summary
Bakugou Katsuki is a mangaka, and he’s currently working on a new hero, one who is supposed to be his main character Dynamight’s equal.
After sketching out the new character’s basic shape, he contours the muscles, then starts to work on his face. He gives him a strong jaw and rounded eyes, and wild hair crazier than Dynamight's.
He sets his pencil down and scowls at the drawing. The face is all wrong and it’s pissing him off. He goes to take a drink of his coffee and finds it empty. With a sigh, he makes his way back up to the café's counter.
“Oi, Bliz, I need a refill,” Katsuki says. Fuyumi chuckles as she refills his mug. She looks over his shoulder and gasps.
“Touya!” She shrieks before running around the counter.
“Fuyu!” A deep voice says.
Katsuki turns, scowling at the sheer volume, and freezes.
Fuyumi is hugging a tall man, muscular beneath his black t-shirt, which has blue flames along the hem. He has almond shaped eyes and turquoise irises. His hair fans out around his head in wild snow white spikes, perfectly framing his sharp cheekbones and strong jaw.
He’s hot.
And he’s exactly what’s missing from Katsuki’s current hero.

And it is going somewhat decently well, right until Saturday afternoon when a loud voice announces that the entire block has to evacuate due to a bomb that's been found and that needs to be disarmed.
Well fuck.
Hitoshi peeks outside the window, sees masses of people leave the area, all aided by heroes, and he wonders if they'll find his mangled body beneath the rubble should the bomb go off.
Because there is no way for him to leave the apartment; the door is very firmly shut and they are on the fourth floor. There's no way out for him.

Before Hitoshi, Katsuki wouldn’t have thought he’d be into someone watching him. Especially if they weren’t going to get involved at some point. It had never really been an issue for him that Hitoshi wasn’t interested in having sex, doesn’t really feel sexual attraction. He assumed that part of his life would just stay separate from his relationship with Hitoshi.
Katsuki has never been happier to be wrong.

The numbness always clung to him, engraved into his nerves and swirling in his blood stream. If he remained motionless too long, it seeped into his bones and his body ached with every little movement to the point he stopped and if the period of immobility stretched too long, jumpstarting a new motion was a daunting task, near impossible. So, he kept moving, enough to keep the numbness as an afterthought and easily ignored.
Bakugou made him feel like he was burning like the sun, the lukewarm touch of other people paling in comparison. He'd chase that heat as long as he could.

Sees how sometimes Shinsou is clearly reluctant to be alone with Aizawa. Sees how sometimes Shinsou and Aizawa leave the school together and there are days where Shinsou seems to be okay with it, walking alongside Aizawa but sometimes he walks a step behind him and it seems as if he's being forced to go with him.
Katsuki sees and he worries.

There's a ringing in his ears but Hitoshi still hears someone yell and then he hits the ground, hard.

"Watch out!" he screams, effortlessly getting the entire restaurant's attention and then he turns back around to the child, his eye flickering red but it's too late.
There's an incredibly loud explosion and then everything is chaos.

Hizashi tracks the lowering of Shinsou's head with some kind of amusement. It's more than apparent that the kid is absolutely exhausted—and not just the eyebags are hinting at that—and it takes him less than ten minutes to be completely asleep in Hizashi's lesson.
It's kind of a marvel, really; Hizashi's lessons are not all that quiet and for anyone to be able to sleep while he yells out English verbs is a feat in itself but also, Hizashi knows it's a huge sign of trust and he intends to be worthy of it.

Hitoshi isn't stupid. He's perceptive and quick-witted—kind of a given thanks to his quirk—but he's also very socially aware. Kinda had to be with all the foster families in the past who had it out for him.
So he notices immediately when Bakugo starts to behave strangely in class.
It's not obvious enough to draw the attention of anyone but something about him is off in a way Hitoshi can't put his finger on and it worries him.
Bakugo has always been the steady, steadfast rock of this class, despite his angry exterior and to see him apparently struggling with something is unsettling.

Katsuki huffs a little in annoyance at Hitoshi's antics, throwing him the finger before easily slipping back into the show.
"You'll be stuck with us for the next four hours, so strap yourselves in and cover your kids' ears, cause we 'bouta swear a whole fuck lot, especially about the fucked up next gen news we got for you today!"Katsuki and Hitoshi, two guys who've been shunned out of Hero Society because of a villanous quirk and a badly tempered personality, share a radio show where they discuss everything concerning the next gen heroes. It goes as well as you might expect.

Hitoshi nods once, letting him know that he heard him and he guesses it's to be expected. Hitoshi is a threat with his quirk and of course Yamada would be worried about that.
"I'm sorry," Hitoshi gets out, his voice shaky, and he wrings his hands in his lap. "I—if there's a way I can make it better, you have to tell me. Please," he tacks on, realising that his words might come off too much as an order and Yamada lets out a slow breath.

Hitoshi's heart nearly pounds out of his chest as he stares up at the man, vision blurred with tears and shoulders tensed in preparation for a blow. "I'm not here to hurt you," the man says, voice low and calm. Now that he's right there, Hitoshi can see him better.
The man has long black hair, and he's dressed all in black too, save for the comedically large scarf wound around his neck. Scarf? Hitoshi's eyes widen as he realizes — Eraserhead? Eri peeks her head out from behind Hitoshi's legs, though she clutches the fabric of his pants tightly in her fists. "Eraserhead?" Her voice cracks a little when she speaks, but the man definitely hears her.
(Or, Hitoshi and Eri are siblings and escape an abusive foster home only to be found by the one and only pro-hero Eraserhead.)

"Be good and be safe, okay?" Aizawa asks and Eri nods enthusiastically.
"I will," she promises and Aizawa smiles at her—he honest to god smiles—and then gets up and looks at Hitoshi.
Hitoshi tenses, straightening up on instinct and he fights the urge to salute him or something.
"I'll keep her safe," he promises because how can he do anything else and Aizawa hums.
"You stay safe, too," he then says and for a moment Hitoshi feels as if he's cared for, as if he matters, before he realises that this is not something Aizawa only says to the girl he all but adopted but to all his students.
Hitoshi is really not special in any kind of way to him, and he would do good to remember that.
