Her wild halo of curls always seemed to be disappearing around the corner as he walked the stone corridors of the castle, trailing a lavender and mint fragrance that seemed to cling to his robes and burrow into his brain. He avoided the library, once a favorite refuge, and took to owl-ordering any books he didn’t already own, because she was sure to be set up at whichever table was nearest the aisle he needed. She would have piles of books spread across the entirety of the surface of the table, stacks of them on the chairs, her fingers smudged with ink, her brow furrowed and her bottom lip pinned between her teeth. She would not look up if he walked by.

Summary
“Monsters are not born. He made me into one,” Malfoy said, tone full of loathing and derision. “Better get that through that bushy head of yours, Granger. Unless you’d want a first-hand experience of what I am capable of.”
He was just trying to scare her, her mind assuaged her. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel that he was sincere. He truly saw himself as a monster, and wanted to convince her of the fact.
But why? Why would he warn her of the danger he posed? What would he gain from it, aside from giving her a fright and making her potentially despise him?
“I don’t fear you, Malfoy,” she said, her tone matching her confident words.
He simply stared at her, eyes widening a little. A corner of his lips slowly curled upwards. “Then you will learn to. Or get mauled.”
