HOLY SHIT. I literally sat in my chair for over four hours to finish reading this. What an emotional rollercoaster. The fluff is real, but I also have to say, the angst in this fic really GOT ME and I felt physically hurt when almost no fics do that to me. MarkHyuck in this fic is simply TOO ADORABLE and it's physically impossible to not ship them OMG. I root for Hyuck so, so, so much, for how deep his feelings run despite his nonchalant facade. It's also impossible not to feel attached to and protective of Mark, who is so insecure, flawed, but also so loyal and kind. It's absolutely amazing to me how the author was able to build such as a full, emotionally satisfying, life-like story from such seemingly simple settings. No element in this story is particularly groundbreaking, but somehow, it WORKS. And it works so well, too. I haven't read an RPF that's this good in a very, very long time.

This is some tooth-rotting stuff! (See what I did there?) The banter between Harry and Draco is laugh-out-loud funny, and I can't tell you how many times I cracked up like a wild animal because of Harry's adorkable-ness. This fic is a wonderful example of the kind of magic that a simple, wonderfully self-contained story can do. You don't need a complex backdrop to make the story appealing; the character themselves more than fill out the skin and bones of the story.

HOLY FUCK, does Faith Wood ever disappoint? EVER???? I can't believe they managed to write about a magical binding (literally) accident snowballing into full-on blowjobs, smut, and, dare I say it, RIMMING!!! And to somehow make the progress seem entirely exhilarating to read and utterly convincing, without the characterization slipping even one bit? I have to say that the characterization of Draco in this is SPOT ON. At the outset, he did act like a major pain in the ass, and was clearly quite homophobic. However, his undeniable physical attraction to Harry gradually led him to develop feelings for him (or perhaps these feelings were a long time in the coming). I wouldn't go so far as to say that Draco had a character arc in this fic, but we definitely get to learn about his thoughts (and attraction to Harry) in more depth as the story unfolds. I also really loved the characterization of Harry in this; everything is just PERFECT, not to mention all the HOT SEX. I'm getting more and more nit-picky with Drarry fics, but I honestly couldn't find a single flaw in this one, and that's saying something. Definitely one of my favorite Drarry fics, and DEFINITELY worthy of re-reads.
P.S. I commend the bit of bondage in this.

This was such an emotional, heart-wrenching ride for me! I rarely have the patience for fics that are this long, but this one was so well-paced that it didn't feel slow in the slightest. The development of Drarry's relationship felt genuine and well thought out, and I had the time to really get to know the dynamics between Harry and Draco and all the sweet little details in their relationship, precisely because this fic is so long. The characterization of both Harry and Draco in this is so likable, and their interactions so well-written, that I really came to root for them almost as real, living people instead of fictional characters.
Also. ALL THE PARTS OF THIS FIC ABOUT DRACO'S MAGICAL TATTOOS.
"He finished with the last of the buttons and slid Draco’s shirt away, his eyes already scanning over the familiar images. The most obvious was the hawthorn tree on Draco’s back, the dark trunk running straight up his spine, the boughs branching over his shoulder blades. Now, in the first days of June, the leaves were nearly hidden by the flowers blooming from it, and Harry couldn’t resist brushing his fingertips over them, watching them shiver as if in a breeze. He especially loved doing that in the autumn, when each stroke of his fingers brushed a small flurry of orange leaves free of their branches.
Below the tree was a field of lilies and narcissi, and those bloomed year round, even in winter when the hawthorn’s branches formed a skeleton web over Draco’s back. Harry knew that if he watched long enough, there was a tiny snitch that zipped around the tree, sneaking through the branches and dipping low to skim the flowers. Draco had come home with that one three years after getting the constellation on his arm, and Harry had spent long and wonderful hours of his life since then with Draco stretched out naked on his stomach, and Harry propped lazily on one elbow, trying to pin the little golden blur beneath one fingertip while Draco laughed and teased him that his Seeker abilities were slipping.
There was nothing new on his back, so Harry turned his attention to Draco’s arms. There was the green serpent curled around Draco’s right bicep that responded to parseltongue, and the four intricately patterned bands around his left bicep that shifted to spell out their children’s names when touched. Both forearms were already taken, one by the constellation and the other by scarring. There was the dragon tattoo down his left side, and his right side was still blank."
Another minor thing that I really liked from this fic was Draco's initial primness when it comes to sex. I really enjoyed reading about Draco opening himself up emotionally for Draco and letting his vulnerabilities show through, knowing Harry was right there for him, ready to listen. OH. And Draco in Harry's red hoodie. What I wouldn't do for an illustration of that!!! Like I said, the charm of this fic lies in all of its little details surrounding Drarry's relationship. Wonderful example of realistic and thoughtful character development!
The only tiny thing I didn't like so much was the big reveal of the culprit behind Draco's partners dying mysteriously...that really didn't feel convincing to me.
