Brigitte looked up and immediately looked away, too late to stop herself from seeing the figure illuminated in the moonlight from the open basement door. Usually, her mind was kind enough to torment her with visions of her sister as she had been for the first fifteen years of her life, red-haired and sullen and human. But before her stood a creature of entirely white made out of sharp points- white naked flesh mottled by ridges like a half-formed clay sculpture, a mane of white hair cradling pointed ears, white razor-sharp fangs poking out of the sides of its grin, hands that curled into long white talons, and around its neck the white crow-skull necklace that had bound them together for years. The only color was the faded green of its eyes as they gazed down at Brigitte with desire so intense it almost hurt, but what the desire was for remained utterly inscrutable. A scar, faint but recognizable as from the wound that had killed her, that Brigitte had given her, spread across its left breast
