You’ve dreamt of him 213 times. The first time, you were thirteen in both the dream and otherwise, feet off the side of the roof of an apartment complex that your aunt lived in. You’re sitting next to a boy with a bandaid on his cheek and battered sneakers, and he shoves a popsicle stick in your face. You look at it instead of him -- 25 points -- and spend the next few minutes destroying the remnants of your popsicle until it reads an embarrassing 5 points.
You turn to the boy, look at him. As he starts to speak, the dream ends.
