    Maybe, if Biana hadn’t been so distracted, she would’ve noticed the signs. She’d never been the oblivious type. Maybe she could’ve predicted the intent behind this perfect date, been able to stop him before it happened. Maybe she could have prevented it, made it easier for the both of them.

    She had only turned away for a second, to admire the reflections of the lights on the water. When she’d turned back, what she’d been too slow to realize hit her. Dex’s ears were flushed red, his eyes searching hers. His mouth was set in a determined smile, and he’d changed position so that he was now kneeling in front of her.
