    But Avery grew older carrying something he never learned how to put down.

    It stayed quiet at first, buried under normal days and normal conversations, until even breathing near Derek felt like holding something too fragile inside his chest. He told himself it was nothing. Told himself it was just confusion, just a passing phase, just something easier to ignore than to name.

    Derek never seemed to notice the weight of it.

    To him, Avery was just there— steady, familiar, someone who existed in the background of his life without ever demanding to be seen differently. And Avery let it stay that way, because wanting more felt like something he wasn’t allowed to want.

    But feelings don’t disappear just because they are denied.

    And some love, when it is never returned and never spoken aloud, begins to turn against the body that holds it.

    Avery didn’t forget Derek. He never did, you know? Even if they both believed that the universe would erase every part of D3rlord3– of Derek— He still remembered. The universe itself is illogical, which is why, at-least in this one, they can still see each other. This universe, to Derek’s surprise, was the first and only one to keep them together just a little longer. Avery wants to take that opportunity to know the other that knows everything little thing about him, While Derek just wants to continue keeping Avery safe.
