In a world dominated by alphas and omegas, being a beta made him almost null. He couldn't assert himself as a threat the way alphas did, nor make himself enticing the way omegas could. The best a beta could do with their scent was soothe. More powerful ones could even nullify other scents with their own, but he was never particularly strong in that area. Or any, really.

Aventurine laughs. “What does it look like? We’re propositioning you.”
Sunday shakes his head free from Aventurine’s grasp. “This—This is not—”
“Not what you and Ratio agreed on? Oh, I know,” Aventurine replies airily, condescendingly placing a hand on Sunday’s shoulder. His tone shifts to something gentler. “Don’t worry, we’ll be cooperative. Do you want us to tell you what we’re planning to do? We won’t do anything you don’t like, Sunday. As I said… mutually beneficial.”
In which the deal between Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, and Sunday goes slightly differently and Sunday learns that threatening people isn't the only way to get them to help him out.
