Summary
At the edge of war and discipline, no one teaches you what to do with the quiet parts — the glances that last too long, the silences that say too much, the ache of wanting something you can’t name out loud. Max is too reckless. Charles is too careful. But between field drills, flight missions, and rain-slick nights in rotting cabins, something begins to shift — not fast, not loud, but undeniably.
They were trained to follow orders. Not to feel.
But the heart is terrible at protocol. And sometimes, breaking formation is the only way to survive.Bookmarked by foolspink

Summary
“It’s never felt like that, for me.”
Max looks up.
Thumb rubbing along his palm, Charles keeps his eyes away from him.
“What?”
“Being with you. It has never felt big and loud for me. You were big and loud,” Charles says, with a private little smile. “But being with you, it’s- it was- it is like… like that day on the beach, do you remember? One of our date nights.”
“When it rained?”
Kind of a getting-together fic except established relationship. All will be good before it gets worse before it gets better.

Summary
The World Championship trophy rests in his trembling hands, his name etched in fine gold. It isn't until he's staring down at it—his name nestled close to Max’s—that he realises his dreams have always been carved out of someone else’s pain. Jules. Max.
And now, maybe even himself.
