    Summary

James Potter thought that his last year at Hogwarts would likely turn out uneventful. And Regulus Black was looking forward to some peace and quiet at Beauxbatons.

Neither of them could have ever expected that the Triwizard Tournament would return after nearly two-hundred years.

Hundreds of students will enter to have a shot at the coveted Triwizard Cup. But only three will be chosen – and only one will take home eternal glory.

As soon as James had heard that the Triwizard Tournament would be returning to Hogwarts, he was sure he’d never wanted anything more than to win it. But James would soon learn, upon meeting a certain contender for the tournament from Beauxbatons, he hadn’t yet known what it meant to truly want something.

    Summary

"Regulus knew the story of his birth well, his mother never missing a chance to tell him how he nearly killed both her and himself just by being born. She resented him for it and made it clear. But sometimes, late at night while he lay alone with his thoughts in his room, Regulus began to wonder if maybe he really did die that day, and now he was only a ghost haunting this lonely house. He drifted through the halls of Grimmauld Place silently, spending almost all of his time between the four walls of his room. Unlike Sirius, who got all of his parent’s attention, both good and bad, Regulus could go for lengths of time without being spoken to. He tested it, to see how long he could go before he was remembered, and it was always invariably Sirius who found him and spoke to him.

He learned to fade into the background. When he was silent, his mother didn’t reprimand him with sharp slaps and sharper words. A ghost cannot be hit, cannot be hurt."

    Or:

Regulus Black dies the day he is born. Somehow, this is the beginning of his story, and not the end.

    Summary

Summer was supposed to be quiet - one last stretch of disappointment before his final year of Sixth Form. Instead, Regulus is stuck answering phones in his father’s ministry office, a pointless favour dressed up as work experience.

The first time Barty calls, he asks for his father.
    The second time, he doesn’t.

He’s clever, composed, and disturbingly consistent.
By the time Regulus learns obsession is no substitute for affection, it's already too late.

With absent friends, a brother on the brink of burnout, and parents too busy performing normalcy to notice, Regulus is left waiting for the phone to ring - and dreading the moment it does.

    Summary

Lily looked at him disbelievingly. “You’re dating a terrorist.”

“He’s not a terrorist,” James said, somehow offended. “He just—has a reputation.”

“Yes, a reputation for terrorism,” Lily said, like James was a bit slow.

James crossed his arms, visibly bristling. “He’s actually very principled.”

“So is every fascist. That’s kind of the problem.”

Or, Lily Evans judges James for his poor taste in men, then goes on to make significantly worse decisions.

Featuring: academic burnout, moral spirals, inconvenient attraction, and the deeply ironic process of falling in love with someone you’d confidently list as a reason the world’s going to hell.

She’s not proud of it. But he is very pretty.
