There is grit in his hair.
Tav doesn’t know why that’s the first thing they notice when the party arrives back at camp after the fight. They should focus on the blood splattered across Astarion’s body, painting pale skin with crimson splashes of gore and grime. Perhaps he’s hurt somewhere, a wound left open that the healing potion, one that he’d sipped after their encounter with the goblins, hadn’t touched.
Tav should focus on that, on making sure that he, and the rest of their companions, are okay. Instead, they look past the rest of the party, their focus honed in on Astarion, on dark shadows of road dust and goblin grime peeking out from beneath strands of white. They reach up a hand, fingers sifting through his hair, rough enough to dislodge a spatter of mud that rains down onto Astarion’s shoulders. He winces, a quick jerk of surprise followed by raised brows as he lifts a slender hand to brush the dirt from his armor.
“River. Now.”

Her hand pauses on the apple that she’s about to pick up to put in her bag, because she’s quite certain that she knows this man. How she knows him she’s not quite sure, but as she watches him at the pumpkin stand appraising one (for carving, maybe?) she feels… like she wants to go up and talk to him.

When Mike Warren opens his eyes, it’s three in the morning on a Saturday and he’s laying flat on his stomach on his bedroom floor.
He’s not sure how he got here; he’d just been asleep, trapped in a dream that he can’t quite remember. He does feel the pain of it though, an ache in the tightness of his chest that he's not sure of the origin of. He feels like he should be covered in blood, but when he pushes himself up onto bare knees and stares down at his chest, in the dim light of the moon shining in through his windows, he sees just the whiteness of his undershirt.

Enjolras looks up and meets Joly’s gaze. “He believes in me,” Enjolras says, louder this time. He takes another moment to gather himself, and then strides away, towards the barricade.

Of all the years that Grantaire had known Enjolras, he’d only ever seen him cry once.
It had been Bahorel who'd suggested it, that the group go to the club for some drinks after a meeting. Of course, mostly everyone had agreed, only Enjolras protesting that he had some sort of paper due soon ("--in a week, Enjolras, come on--"). He ended up going along for the ride despite his excuses, claiming that he had to make sure that they all got home without any incidents because incidents, of course, would undoubtably happen.
Grantaire would have been content to go back to his apartment and drink on his lonesome, or even curl up in bed and just sleep for the rest of eternity. He told this to Courfeyrac, who smiled knowingly and told him that Enjolras had agreed to come along for the evening. Which meant that yes, Grantaire was abandoning his bed for a few more hours.
