Sirius smiled ruefully, leaning back and taking another drag from his cigarette. “I know what you mean.”
It was hard to say how the group of eleven-year-olds who turned up on the same day for the Hogwarts Express became a family, years down the line. Even more difficult to understand was how they fell apart so quickly. Everyone had a story to tell.

Summary

This fic will span over many years, following the Marauders through all seven of their Hogwarts years and into the subsequent three years of the First War, concluding with the events of Halloween 1981. The main focus will be on Remus, Sirius, James, and Regulus w/ most chapters told from one of their POVs. It's pretty slowburn and also looks like it's going to be pretty long, we're talking 100+ chapters.
It will have a canon compliant ending in the sense that James and Lily will die, Sirius will go to Azkaban as the traitor, Pete will betray them, etc. The only difference is that I'm shuffling around what happens during the First War (those three years between their graduation and Halloween 1981) and veering away from canon here with my own version of events, of which the biggest difference will be what happens with Regulus.
Jily is *technically* endgame but we get as close to it not being towards the end that it almost might not be? I can't say much more without spoiling it but this will remain primarily a jegulus (and wolfstar ofc) fic! Jily is the secondary ship to these.

Summary
A long marauders’ era story following multiple povs through the years of Hogwarts up until the beginning of the second war. A story of friendship, love, loss, and coming back together which mostly follows canon. This story has a lot of love in it, but a lot of pain as well — don’t read expecting an easy happy ending, it’s compliant after all.
