This whole conversation had started in the midst of foreplay, both of them down to boxers and bikini briefs. Grantaire had been teasing Enjolras, trying to get her to talk dirty – it’d be a useless cause, except that Enjolras’s dry, slightly quizzical delivery does it for Grantaire every time. She’s pathetically gone on this girl. Also, every now and then, something extraordinarily hot slips out. Hot, or hilarious, or confusing, or an insane mix of all of the above.

Intoxicating, if he’s feeling pretentious. And honestly, when is he ever not. “Pretty boy power prodigies like you benefit from this ’oppressive system’.”
“Grantaire,” Bossuet whispers frantically. “You maybe wanna, uh. Cut it out.”
He wants to do no such thing, thank you very much. He’s on a roll. But then he notices the telltale scent of smoke in the air. He notices the wisps of it coming from Enjolras’ clenched fists. Ah. Whoops.

The wind rushes by the latticework frame of Vah Medoh, filling the silence. “It wouldn’t translate,” he says after a too-long pause. There are no whistles now. “Not in a way you’d understand, anyway, O hero. You’re much too busy being that sword’s packmule.”

“Sakusa and Ushijima got a spread in Vogue Japan,” Barnes says, a knowing smirk on his face, and Atsumu’s good mood tanks like the Titanic.
He furiously flips through the magazine until he finds the offending pages. The pièce de résistance is a side shot of Ushijima on some clear plastic ottoman, legs outstretched with Sakusa standing between them. His hands are wrapped around Sakusa’s thighs and Sakusa is tilting Ushijima’s chin up. It’s the eyes that do it, though - there’s something ineffable, something smoldering, about the way they gleam. Atsumu doesn’t know if it’s love or something markedly south of that, but he knows neither man has the acting chops to fake that.
“Disgusting,” Atsumu grumbles, throwing the magazine down on the bench.

There are a few unavoidable truths in Atsumu's world. One: Osamu is his punishment from a past life. Two: calling his ma every Sunday is vital for his sanity. Three: Sakusa Kiyoomi and Ushijima Wakatoshi are soulmates. End-game. Matching puzzle pieces.
Atsumu can't help but wonder if he fits, too.
