Sai studied portraits in detail to make his art look happy. To put a smile on others faces when he couldn’t do it on his own. Konan-senpai told him that once you talk to him, his art looks like despair and ruin. Maybe so. But one thing about Sai, was that he’d do whatever it takes to make a name for himself.
Broken hearts, a flask of gin, tattooed with a safety pin, the whole 13 yards until his last reason. He wanted to be the center of attention as he crashed and burned. At least this was more exciting than the manor.

Sai was a good ANBU. He followed Lord Danzō's orders to the letter, infiltrating Orochimaru's hideout and collecting as much information as possible. Of course collecting information is hard to do when you're getting your first hand job by the guy you're supposed to murder. Sasuke Uchiha was cruel and mean and Sai was falling for it with every single step.
